One day I want to become a writer, and artist, an editor. I have traveled so much with my parents and my brothers that they are my closest friends and sometimes I wonder if I can actually say I come from any certain country. I love food so much that I think of countries according to the dishes they serve. And also, I am sharing my life with you.

Late Monday's recommendation

So today's recommendation is the fruit of a tired and overworked mind.

Kiss from a Rogue
By Shirley Karr

I do believe I've already recommended 'What an Earl Wants' from this writer. Yes this is a romance novel, yes it is one with one of those covers, but what can I say, the story is good!
The young brother of the main character of the first story I recommended, is a rake... Or at least he has just decided he wanted to be one. His brother controlled all of their estates and money and had a great love, why should he have to stick around and get bored?
However, on his first attempt to be a rake Tony Sinclair finds himself trying to tempt the lovely Mrs. Sylvia Montgomery. Unbeknowst to our Anthony, the lovely wife of the late Mr. Montgomery has taken over a failing industry that, to keep afloat, has involved her in some criminal activities.
What will happen when the poor Sinclair gets thrown into a mess that has nothing to so with him? And why is it that he has accepted to play the role of Mrs. Montgomery's new husband?

Oh God...

I've gone numb from all the editing and sitting and headphone wearing I've been doing and must continue doing.
At least it was raining before, now it's sunny and amazing. Damn you beautiful and brilliant mountains of Switzerland!

Oh well, the rain gave me a present that I could appreciate even from behind a desk.

Ok so it totally ended in that neighboring house! I knew it would be a man in Switzerland that would own a pot of gold!

Swiss not so much vacation

Back in our Swiss house, unfortunately I'm here with three movies to edit.... sigh. I do enjoy editing but the mountains are so beautiful. I feel like Maria in the Sound of Music if the nuns had not let her leave the convent and she had to sit behind the computer and...... um....... pray?

At least I can still go out on a lovely dinner with my fantastic family.

I love looking out the window and seeing mountains. I think that is just my favorite thing about this house.

Mother discovering that Floris and I had eaten pieces of h.e.r chocolate.

I love how Floris kind of looks like he is faking interest but he is actually listening.

My mother's friend and my friend's mother (try to figure that one out).

"Are you taking a picture?"

"Yes you are."

"I won't stop till you smile"
"Fine"

We often go to this restaurant. Of course it's one of the only ones open so our choices are pretty limited in the off season. Thank God it's delicious anyway.

Those inexplicable things

Do you have those things that you notice, things that you feel are strange or that you just can't find a good explanation for them? I have one that bothers me constantly (and my mother now that I have mentioned it to her).
My forever question is that shoe, that single shoe, that you always see at the side of the road on a highway or some country road in the middle of nowhere.

I always wonder, why just one? Are there people out there walking with just one shoe? What did this one shoe do wrong? And the placement always confused me. Did they toss it out the window while driving, on the highway?! Or did they stop, again on the highway, just to get rid of a shoe?
It's all very confusing.

Monday's recommendation

Holes
by Louis Sachar

This is, again, a novel for young people. I know, I know, but isn't it your favorite stories from your youth that stick with you the longest?
This story tells the tale of Stanley Yelnats the third. After being accused of stealing a pair of shoes Stanley has to choose between going to jail or going to a correctional camp, the choice seems easy at the time. Stanley soon finds himself shipped off to a camp in the middle of a dry desert, no water to be seen for miles, two pairs of orange working clothes and a camp-full of real criminals who have been there for too long. He soon finds out that the camp is completely based around digging holes in the desert, the guards say it is to build character, Stanley believes that you wouldn't dig through a whole desert unless you were looking for something.

This story was without a doubt one of my favorites when I first began to be assigned books at school. Don't you miss the good old days where they used to assign you good things to read in class? I do agree that some classics are classics for a reason, some... I just don't know....

Feanor

I've just realized that my puppy Feanor is growing up on this blog! I hadn't really noticed until I started categorizing all the posts (my god I'm sad but it was a very boring day! I swear!).
So I'm dedicating this post to my 'little' Feanor and also to her breeder that I am sending the link to this to so they can see how well she is doing.

She was so cute and small!!!! These were taken the first day we brought her back from the breeder.

My legs were her cushion yes. Now she tends to sleep on our feet while cooking. Practical.

She liked to squeeze her head through, and we liked to watch.

I cannot believe how small she was! Now she squashes Eldur.

In case this is confusing, she's trying to squeeze under that branch.

OK so she chases and then eats her tail... Sigh.

She just started doing this! Our little lady! Whenever she sits somewhere and you come in, she raises up her head and crosses her feet. Adorable!

Oh God.

On that note.

Floris's Birthday!

My little brothers birthday party!!! OK so ha was in school during his real birth day and actually had 6 exams that day, yikes! But a weekend party is still fantastic and needed when your birthday is during school time.

These pictures don't show much of anything but there in the distance was a field of lavender. I had never seen a field so completely purple, it was like a river of purple. I guess this bizarre weather we've been having was good for the lavender industry.

I swear Le Gros du Roi is just bunkers for buildings. Sometimes I feel the whole city is just space ships and when the time is right they will blast off.

Little bro does not smile for pictures or like pictures so YAY! He must have been really happy and I can't even describe how happy I am that he was.

My hair is insane in the wind that was there and it was actually freezing, but whatever!

The man making the fish platters was fantastic! He was fast and brilliant and had the best smile ever.

What's better after lunch at the sea then mini-golf? Nothing, in my humble opinion.

Right so these were rushed shots and there are many appearances of the blurry thumb as I tried to evade stray balls and run after the boys, while holding a bag, a golf club and the phone.

Yes that is a small and annoying jump. Yes I took two shots to get it over. Yes the boys all did it in one go. Sigh...

I feel like Nike sponsored this hole.

This course was brilliant. You had to get the ball up that steep (not so much on this picture) hill and in that first hole that is at the bottom of the picture, and then it goes through some kind of underground tunnel and comes out near the hole over at the top of the picture.

Mother won! She does every time we go here. Granted that has only been twice, but still!

Giant traffic jam on the way home, during which my little bro's friends mother (phew that's a mouth full) told us lots of horror stories about foster homes and their parents and their problems. I felt so bad by the time we got out of the jam I wanted to jump over to the nearest foster home and save all the children.

Passed by Aigues Mortes, I love the ramparts around fortified cities.
