One day I want to become a writer, and artist, an editor. I have traveled so much with my parents and my brothers that they are my closest friends and sometimes I wonder if I can actually say I come from any certain country. I love food so much that I think of countries according to the dishes they serve. And also, I am sharing my life with you.

Second set, Second day

Our actress chillin' in the makeup room.

The makeup room doubled as the camera room since there were only a certain amount of rooms in the apartment.

The Director, Latoya, having a chat with the actors.

My darling continuity assistant.

Lunchtime.

Our 1st AD, assistant director, working away.

My darling Jess and the Lovely Rachel, our makeup and costume departments.

What DPs do when they don't have a camera in their hands.

Bobby, I think he was a grip on this set.

There was a bit of a bad moment on this day at the set for moi but it was fine thanks to the darling crew.

Monday's recommendation

Yet another Pride and Prejudice story. I'm sorry that I read so many of these. But when you're in the middle of editing lots of movies and being on many shoots, you just want to read something silly and satisfying. So here is a book that fits that criteria completely.

Mr. Darcy Takes the Plunge
by J. Marie Croft

This is a complete rewrite of the Pride and Prejudice story. It just so happens the places, characters names and time period are the same. But I can tell you this book is pun-tastic. The humor will have you either snorting, giggling or just rolling your eyes but however ridiculous it is, it really adds to the lighthearted universe Croft has created.
Miss Elizabeth Bennet is by no means a girl with no means (if you catch my drift) and even though she has many sisters her whole family dotes on the youngest of the family, the only son. And then we look over to Mr Darcy's side, he is a young man, heir to a great estate and has two sisters. It is upon wondering through the gardens of the Darcy's great estate, having come to visit their housekeeper, that Elizabeth and Jane Bennet (along with the two Darcy girls) bump into Fitzwilliam Darcy, Colonel Fitzwilliam, Charles Bingley and Mr. Flemming. Startled as the ladies are to see the men home so early, they are only more startled to find them half naked from a swim in the lake.

This is a really corny and light comedy so don't start this with an undying devotion to the original story but just let it pass like a new story. If you let yourself flow with the easy rhythm of this story I guarantee that you will enjoy it.

My second set in Paris, my first day on it

My dearest Jess doing some crazy touch ups in the makeup department.

The DP and the Director discussing important matters (even though they were actually chatting about food)

Our Director is satisfied with the makeups awesome techniques.

2nd AC making sure everything is up and running in the camera department.

Woohoo! Dolly track! It is so amusing seeing the camera man be pulled back and forth on what looks like a miniature train track (like the one in 'the Santa Claus').

Movies are so technical...

Our actor.

Crazy set design.

A nice Master Shot of the room, I can't help but think of a security camera. And then when you register the fact that that camera is pointing at the bed you wonder what else it might be filming....

Our Actress

Getting ready for some workout!

I am ruining movie magic with this picture! The dangling legs are the hanging man at the end of the movie. No it is not the actor nor is this man hanging from the neck. This is actually our Producer, Adrien.
Sigh.... Movies aren't what we think they are.

On that note I leave you with some interesting discoveries about the behind the scenes of movies.

Dear readers (if there are any constant ones)

I'm on a shoot until Sunday that is CRAZY long. All day long I am in a steamy room filled with lights, cameras, actors and a full crew and its already warm outside.
So in waiting for me to post some delightful pics of the lovely shoot I will have to resign to the fact that I am not able to post until this shoot is done, only because I am too tired to move correctly.

Do you ever wonder?

So at the metro station closest to my house (you know the one you call 'yours' even though you have no special claim over it), Abbesses -just above the Moulin Rouge and just below Montmartre- there is a condom dispenser just as you exit the station.

Like this one but nastier...

So I always wondered why they were there and who used them, mostly I try not to think about it as I shove throw the swivel bars or hold on to anything in the metro. But the biggest thing I think about is... Almost every time I walk out of the metro I see someone waiting there, next to the dispenser. I can't help but wonder if there are about a thousand texts or phone calls a day where people at Abbesses explain to their friends, spouses and siblings.
"Yeah I'm waiting just by the condoms."

Monday's recommendation on Wednesday

I totally forgot about the recommendation day! With all my cooking and tasting and probably... Gaining.
So here you are, this is unoriginal and everyone knows it but I love this book and recently have reread it after many years of not having done so. Fantastic! Of course if you can read the original french version it is a plus, if you can't read french I think this is the only reason you need to learn how to do so, or at least the only amazing reason.

Le Petit Prince
by Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I adore this book! I loved it when I was young and even more when I was older.
If you don't know, the story talks of a little prince who lives on an island with three tiny volcanoes and a flower, after arguing with his flower he travels away from his home planet and bounces from planet to planet before he arrives on Earth. Through his travels we learn about the strange behaviors of 'the adults' as the petit prince is a boy. The whole novel is a question on the behavior of men and has millions of philosophical meanings, its ridiculous how adorable such a well thought out book is. And as a great fan of Peter Pan questioning adults behaviors is a great pass time.
I really recommend this little treasure in all of its deep and not so deep aspects.

Enjoying champagne with mother and planning our trip to the east coast of Canada a couple of weeks before I head to the west :)

The good old days

I just noticed today that the last time my mother and I went on one of our (what used to be) annual trips to England was in 2009. Where has time gone!!!
Do you remember when you were 6 and waiting an hour for something was like watching 2001: Space Odyssey in slow motion.
In a moment of weakness as I thought of the good times in England I attacked my room for any SD drives I could find to get the old pictures onto my computer.

My mother, best friend, best friend's mother and I all agree that stiles are amazing, useful and a good laugh when they are actually too high to get over.

Fruit is fun too!

My great aunt (my mother's aunt) is the greatest lady to bring along on any trip!

I actually thought this little guy was dead for a little while. Me and my mother started yelling at it to make it get up as Englishmen stared at us like mad women.

Thank God!

We came upon some kind of ritual at a stone circle like the Stone Hedge but less famous. There are lots of them littering the English country side. This one just happened to be circled by a couple of people and a man dressed as a shaman and chanted about seasons. Their ice cream was rather delicious.
